HER Fund co-organised an online workshop on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) with Hong Kong Women’s Coalition on Equal Opportunities. It aims to help our grantee partners and members from Hong Kong Women’s Coalition on Equal Opportunities to learn about the Convention and its application in Hong Kong, as well as their past experiences in lobbying. We hope to encourage each organisation to participate in writing submissions, so that communities and social issues that are often neglected by the society can be brought to the attention of the deliberation process of the Convention.
Impacts of the event
- 14 members from 11 different gender organisations deepened their understanding of the content of the Convention, the reporting mechanism of the United Nations, as well as the connection between the Convention and the organisational work.
- Connected both Hong Kong Women’s Coalition on Equal Opportunities and the grantee partners of HER Fund, laying the foundation for joint participation in the writing of the Convention’s submissions.
