- 8 & 15 October, 2022
HER Hub has been working diligently to support gender organisations, offering community workers from gender organisations an opportunity to enhance their facilitation skills through the Applied Theatre 101 Workshop. Led by Dr. Au Yi Man, the executive director of the Hong Kong Drama / Theatre and Education Forum (TEFO), the two-day workshop focused on experiential learning with body, feelings, and reflective activities.
The first day of the workshop was centred around games and process drama. Participants experienced a variety of games, learnt their principles and functions, and explored a process drama lesson plan. In the afternoon, they delved into the use of visual theatre and how it can be used to explore issues. They learnt about design principles and explored case studies from different regions.
The second day of the workshop saw participants engage in small group discussions on game setup, management, and selection principles. The atmosphere was lively, and participants were eager to explore the potential of various skills in their work.
This workshop was open to Transformative Feminist Leadership (TFL) facilitators and HER Fund partners interested in Applied Theatre. With twenty participants gaining valuable insights and experiences to apply in their future collaborations, the workshop provided a valuable platform for organisers to enhance their facilitation skills and learn new techniques to support their work.
Event Outcomes:
- 18 participants gained valuable insights and experiences on the use of games, process drama, and visual theatre to explore issues and design principles.
- The workshop fostered a lively atmosphere and active participation, with small group discussions on game setup, management, and selection principles. They also learned about case studies from different regions.
